Bruni was a simple construction worker, who won 1.671 Million Swiss Francs on 28 April 1979. After taxes there remained only 729 386 Francs. He received bad investment advice from his boss, a property developer, and was bancrupt six years later, after a lot of media publicity. In 2008 he was diagnosed with leukemia.
