American singer, well known for her many recorded hits in the 50s and her gigs in the club circuit. She was best known for her N.1 hit of 1956, "Wayward Wind." Grant headlined with The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies in Palm Springs, California. One of her more notable appearances of her later years was with the Follies on December 31, 2006. Grant Gogi, born on September 20, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an artist, author, and lecturer. He is best known for his abstract expressionist paintings, but he has also worked in sculpture, collage, and printmaking.
Gogi studied at the Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He began his career as a commercial artist, but he soon turned to fine art. In the early 1950s, he became associated with the New York School of Abstract Expressionism. He was a member of the Artists' Club and exhibited his work at the Stable Gallery and the Betty Parsons Gallery.
In the 1960s, Gogi began to incorporate collage and assemblage into his paintings. He also began to write about art and aesthetics. His writings have been published in numerous journals and magazines.
Gogi has had over 100 one-man exhibitions and his work is represented in major museums around the world. He has received numerous awards, including the Guggenheim Fellowship, the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, and the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant.
Gogi continues to live and work in New York City. He is represented by the David Richard Gallery.
