Moureaux Serge was born on January 1, 1934 in Brussels, Belgium. He is a Belgian politician and member of the Socialist Party. He has served as Mayor of Brussels from 1995 to 2013.
Moureaux is the son of a Belgian father and a Spanish mother. He studied law at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and began his political career in 1965 when he was elected to the Brussels city council. He served as an alderman from 1971 to 1989 and as mayor from 1995 to 2013.
During his time as mayor, Moureaux oversaw a number of major projects, including the construction of the new Brussels City Hall and the renovation of the Grand Place. He also played a key role in promoting Brussels as a cultural and tourism destination.
Moureaux retired from politics in 2013. He is married and has two children.
