Italian-French actor, also known as Zio Vittorio. He is best known by the international film audience for his performance as Raphaël, the father of Amélie Poulain in Amélie (2001). Rufus (born Guy Rizotto, 19 December 1942) is a French singer-songwriter.
He began as a graphic artist but, after meeting a producer of French singer Claude François, he embarked on his musical career by writing songs for others, especially for Hervé Vilard's first hits like "Capri c'est fini" (1965), "Fais la bise à ta maman" (1966) and "Nous" (1967).
Rufus then launched into a singing career, releasing his first album in 1968. He had a hit in France in 1970 with "Si tu pars", and had a number-one album in 1976 with "Rufus".
He has spent a large part of his career in Canada, where he had a string of hit albums and singles in the 1970s and 1980s.
Rufus is a prolific songwriter, having written over 2,000 songs throughout his career. He has also written several books, including his autobiography, "La Vie d'artiste" (2005).
Rufus remains an active performer, and continues to tour and release new music.
