In 1953, Timothy began training as a quantity surveyor. Timothy's father, Thomas Timothy, was a successful architect based in Bradford. The younger Timothy joined his father's practice in 1959 as an assistant architect.
In 1963, Timothy became an associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Timothy became a partner in the practice in 1965 and took over the running of the business when his father retired in 1970.
Career

Timothy has been a member of many architectural societies, including the RIBA, the Royal Town Planning Institute, and the International Union of Architects.
