Normally, this house is associated with losses, expenses, spiritual practices, foreign residents, big corporate jobs, and of course, isolation and even imprisonment. But today, we will approach the 12th house from a different angle. It can be that the planet sitting in the 12th house or the twelfth lord is getting activated by the Dasha or by transit. For example, you could have Jupiter moving through your 12th house. The Role of the 12th House in Relationships

Relationship or marriage happens when the 12th house is activated. In contrast, the seventh house is the actual house of marriage, whereas the 12th is opposite to the sixth, with the sixth house being celibacy, so the 12th is getting you out of the celibate state. But there's another reason.

Unlike the Western concept of astrology, where the focus is on the fifth house for bringing a relationship or a romance, here the focus is on the 12th house. In the Vedic system, we focus more on the karma getting activated when it comes to relationships. The 12th house is essentially the prarabdha karma of the seventh house because the twelfth is six houses away from the seventh house. Not only does it show karmic connections, but it also has an inevitable feeling to it, like you will have to undergo this karma at some point.

The 12th is also about bed pleasures, but what we're talking about here is the seventh house. Even Venus gets exalted in the sixth from its Mool Trikona house of Libra. This is because your relationship karma is there. The sixth house is the house of service. Essentially, Venus' exaltation in Pisces is about service to your marriage partner. This is why Venus gets debilitated in Virgo; it’s a place where you might criticize or judge your partner, maybe being too demanding. In Pisces, you let go and accept, and you serve.

Planetary Influences in the 12th House

The Dashas of the planets in the 12th house constantly introduce you to potential partners. If Venus and Jupiter are in your 12th house, then you can get a partner who is educated with a good family background. Venus demands purity in relationships, so Venus there in the 12th, especially if it’s well-placed, can mean a romantic, idealistic relationship.

If Sun and Mars are in your 12th house, that can mean someone from a high status, someone self-made, someone courageous. Sun in the 12th usually means that the person wants to marry to have children, and here this Sun will promote spirituality. Moon and Mercury can mean the partner is wealthy or from a business background. Moon here means the person wants to marry to establish a home together, and Moon, of course, in the 12th can also bring many partners.

The same with Rahu in the 12th brings mixed results. Certainly, it brings a lot of partners; it can suggest a foreign partner, perhaps someone who was previously married. Rahu in the 12th can mean you’re always chasing the person that is not right for you, and you tend to look in the wrong places.

If it’s Ketu, Saturn, or Mars in the 12th, this points to more challenging relationship karma. A marriage can happen in the Dasha or the Antar Dasha where the 12th house rules are activated. Check 12 from the Moon, from the Lagna, and even 12 from Venus. Jupiter, of course, is the ruling planet of the natural 12th house of the zodiac, Pisces, which is currently being transited by Jupiter.
