French artist and sometime sculptor whose works are generally abstract and cubist in style. She studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Nancy and later in Paris. She served as a volunteer during WWII; after the war, she began exhibiting her works primarily in Paris, with her first major exhibit in 1947. She continued to work into her 90s.
Bertrand Solange was born on March 20, 1913, in Montigny, France. He was a member of the French Resistance during World War II, and after the war he became a prominent politician and diplomat. He served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1958 to 1968, and as Prime Minister from 1969 to 1974.
Solange was a controversial figure, but he was also a highly respected statesman. He was known for his intelligence, his wit, and his commitment to European integration. He died in 1993.
