French rugby union player, chosen 29 times in international events as prop and wing forward. He was playing with the French teams that beat the All Blacks in 1954 and for the first time defeated England in 1951 at Twickenham. An outstanding athlete, Bienes was a champion swimmer and won six international championships in javelin and decathlon. He died on 7 September 2009 at age 86 in Blanquefort.
