Borries von Bodovon was born on December 24, 1905, in Herford, Germany. He was a German naval officer who served in both World Wars.
Von Bodovon joined the German Navy in 1923 and served on a variety of ships, including destroyers, cruisers, and battleships. During World War II, he commanded the battleship Bismarck and the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen.
Von Bodovon was a highly decorated naval officer and was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. He was also a recipient of the Spanish Cross in Gold with Swords and the Order of the Crown of Italy.
After the war, von Bodovon remained in the German Navy and served as the Inspector of the Navy from 1955 to 1957. He retired from the Navy in 1957 and died in 1989.
