Brazilian politician, serving as federal deputy for Pernambuco since 1 February 2019. He is also currently the state president of The Brazilian Republican Party (Partido Republicano Brasileiro, PRB) in Pernambuco. He is the son of federal deputy Silvio Costa and brother of lawyer Carlos Costa, physician Marcela Costa Campos and current state deputy João Paulo Costa. He began his career in politics in the student movement and even presided over the Academic Directory of the Catholic University of Pernambuco, where he graduated. In 2004, at age 21, he was elected the youngest councillor in the history of Recife, being the 4th most voted in that election. As a councillor, he created Parlamento Jovem (Youth Parliament), a first in Brazil, that gave time and voice to the youth of Recife. As a state deputy, Silvio also created Lei de Responsabilidade Educacional (Education Responsibility Law), a pioneering project in Brazil, which was recognized by all state education professionals. In his third term as a state deputy, Silvio created Projeto de Lei de Responsabilidade da Segurança Pública (Public Security Responsibility Bill) in 2017, obliging public managers to account for the states financial situation and actions.
