American athlete, a basketball star, his career was erratic due to a scandal in 1951. After being a star and part owner of the Indianapolis Olympians, he was convicted of point shaving. He moved into other areas, running a tavern that was a family business and moving into sports broadcasting on TV and managing a basketball team. Groza Alex was born on October 7, 1926 in Martins Ferry, Ohio. He was a professional American football player who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons. He played for the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, and Washington Redskins.
Groza was a six-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1974.
