Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (born 28 May 1946) is a French fashion designer.
He is known for his colorful and whimsical designs, which often feature motifs from pop culture, art, and music.
Castelbajac was born in Tours, France. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he met his future wife, Marie-Blanche de Broglie.
In 1968, he founded the fashion house Jean-Charles de Castelbajac with his wife. The house quickly gained a reputation for its avant-garde and experimental designs.
In the 1980s, Castelbajac began collaborating with other artists, including Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
He has also designed costumes for films and operas, including The Fifth Element (1997) and Carmen (2003).
Castelbajac continues to be a leading figure in the fashion world. He has been awarded numerous awards, including the Légion d'honneur in 2009.
