Kennaway James is a British actor. He has appeared in over 100 films and television shows. He is best known for his roles as Dr. Who in the 1960s television series of the same name and as James Bond in the 1970s film The Spy Who Loved Me.
James was born in Auchterarder, Perthshire, Scotland. He began his acting career in the early 1950s. He made his film debut in the 1956 film The Iron Petticoat. He went on to appear in a number of films, including The Dam Busters (1955), Sink the Bismarck! (1960), and The Guns of Navarone (1961).
In 1963, James was cast as Dr. Who in the BBC television series of the same name. He played the role for three seasons, until 1966. He returned to the role in the 1980s and 1990s for several specials. He is the longest-serving actor to play Dr. Who.
In 1977, James was cast as James Bond in the film The Spy Who Loved Me. He played the role for two more films, Moonraker (1979) and For Your Eyes Only (1981). He is the only actor to play James Bond three times.
