American baseball pitcher who played in the Major Leagues in parts of ten seasons spanning 1978–1989. Palmer would play for the Montreal Expos (1978–1980, 1982, 1984–1985), Atlanta Braves (1986–1987), Philadelphia Phillies (1988), and Detroit Tigers (1989). Palmer David is an American politician who served as the 25th lieutenant governor of California from 2007 to 2010. He was the first Democrat to hold the office since 1983.
David was born in Glens Falls, New York, on October 19, 1957. He moved to California with his family when he was a child. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. After law school, David worked as an attorney in the public and private sectors.
David entered politics in 1992 when he was elected to the California State Assembly. He served in the Assembly for six years, representing the 40th district. In 2002, David was elected to the California State Senate, where he served for four years, representing the 23rd district.
In 2006, David was elected lieutenant governor of California. He served in this office for three years, until he was defeated by Republican Abel Maldonado in the 2010 election.
Since leaving office, David has worked as a consultant and a lecturer. He is also a board member of several non-profit organizations.
