American journalist and author of non-fiction works, Pierce has written feature articles and sports columns for such periodicals as Esquire, The Atlantic Monthly, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, New York Times and the Los Angeles Times. His work has been represented in anthologies, including Best American Sports writing, and he has written a memoir, "Hard to Forget: An Alzheimers Story" in 2000 and an essay collection, "Sports Guy: In Search of Corkball, Warroad Hockey, Hooters Golf, Tiger Woods, and the Big, Big Game" in 2001. In addition to writing, he is a panelist on National Public Radio’s Only a Game, and Wait, Wait Dont Tell Me. Pierce graduated from Marquette University in 1975. He and his wife have three children.
