Sell is a Republican. She served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1995 to 2003. She was the first woman to be elected to the House from the 80th District.
In 2002, Sell ran for Congress in the 14th Congressional District. She lost to incumbent Democrat Bill Foster.
Since leaving office, Sell has worked as an entrepreneur. She is the founder and CEO of Sell Consulting Group, a government relations and public affairs firm.
