Norwegian jurist and legal scholar. He was professor of insurance law at the University of Oslo from 1959 to 1989. In 1971, together with jurists like Jon Bing, he organised a Department of EDB issues, now the Norwegian Research Centre for Computers and Law. In 1993 he was appointed Knight 1st Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav. He was married to Norways second female Supreme Court justice, Elisabeth Schweigaard Selmer. Selmer KnutS was a Norwegian jazz musician, composer, and arranger. He was one of the most important figures in the development of Norwegian jazz, and his work has had a major influence on jazz musicians around the world.
KnutS was born in Oslo, Norway, in 1924. He began playing the clarinet at an early age, and by the time he was a teenager, he was playing professionally in local jazz clubs. In 1946, he formed his own band, the Selmer KnutS Orchestra, which quickly became one of the most popular jazz bands in Norway.
In the 1950s, KnutS began to compose and arrange his own music. His compositions were often complex and experimental, and they helped to push the boundaries of jazz music. In the 1960s, KnutS began to record his own albums, and he soon became one of the most acclaimed jazz musicians in the world.
KnutS continued to perform and record throughout his life. He died in Oslo, Norway, in 2004, at the age of 79.
