American scientist, a nuclear chemist and physicist. After graduating magna cum laude, he became a research assistant for the Manhattan Project 1943-1945. He got his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley in 1949 and taught at the University of Chicago and Florida State, as well as lectured in Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Germany. Sheline Raymond was born on March 31, 1922 in Port Clinton, Ohio. She is a writer, editor, and publisher. She has written over 20 books, including the novels "The House on Mango Street" and "The Bean Trees." She has also edited several anthologies, including "This Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color" and "The Norton Anthology of African American Literature."
