Steffen Suzanne Ileen was born on November 21, 1952 in Santa Monica, California. She is an American actress, singer, and dancer. She is best known for her roles as Dr. Maggie Doyle on the television series "ER" and as Diane Chambers on the television series "Cheers".
Ileen was born to a German father and an American mother. She began her career as a dancer, appearing in several Broadway productions. She made her film debut in the 1974 film "The Last Detail". She went on to appear in several other films, including "The Jerk" (1979), "Stripes" (1981), and "Tootsie" (1982).
In 1982, Ileen was cast as Dr. Maggie Doyle on the television series "ER". She played the role for eleven seasons, until the show ended in 2009. She was nominated for four Emmy Awards for her work on the show, and she won one in 1999.
