Christian Streich is a former German footballer and current manager of SC Freiburg of the Bundesliga, the top level of German football. On 29 December 2011, he was named manager following the release of former manager, Marcus Sorg. Christian Streich (born June 11, 1965) is a German football manager who has been in charge of Bundesliga club SC Freiburg since 2011.
Streich was born in Weil am Rhein, West Germany. He began his playing career with local club SV Weil.
Streich began his managerial career in 1995 with SV Weil. He later managed SC Freiburg II, the reserve team of SC Freiburg.
In 2011, Streich was appointed manager of SC Freiburg. Under his leadership, the club has achieved several notable successes, including winning the 2. Bundesliga title in 2016 and qualifying for the UEFA Europa League in 2017.
Streich is married and has two children.
In 2020, Streich published his autobiography, "Gegen den Strom: Mein Weg als Fußballtrainer" ("Against the Current: My Path as a Football Coach").
