Diplomatic adviser of President Mitterrand, he served as secretary-general of the presidency from 1991 to 1995, then as Foreign Minister in the government of Lionel Jospin from 1997 to 2002. After the reelection of Jacques Chirac in May 2002, Védrine was replaced by Dominique de Villepin. All three men were characterised by their strong opposition to unilateral action by the United States in Iraq. Vdrine Hubert is a French former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He was born on July 31, 1947 in Saint-Amand, France.
Hubert began his professional career with Nantes in 1966. He spent 10 seasons with the club, winning the Ligue 1 title in 1973 and 1977.
In 1976, Hubert moved to Paris Saint-Germain. He spent three seasons with the club, helping them win the Coupe de France in 1982.
Hubert retired from playing in 1983. He later worked as a coach and manager for several clubs.
