American psychiatrist, Jungian analyst, and author who has written several books on the archetypal psychology of women and men in the development of spirituality, and is one of the women featured in the 1986 film "Women – for America, for the World" (Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject)) and 1989 National Film Board of Canada documentary "Goddess Remembered." Bolen JeanShinoda is a Chinese-American artist known for her abstract paintings and installations.
She received her BFA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1958 and her MFA from the University of Iowa in 1960.
JeanShinoda's work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
She has also received numerous awards for her work, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts grant.
JeanShinoda is currently a professor emerita at the University of California, Davis.
