French judo champion, nicknamed "La Bourrasque" (the squall) for his sudden fits of temper. Placing third at the World Championships in 1995, he won a Gold Medal in under the 78kg class at the Atlanta Olympics 7/23/1996. On 10/02/1997, while he was training for the World Championships, Bouras was declared positive, following a drug test ordered by the French Ministry of Sport. On 1/08/1999, he was suspended for 15 months and on 4/27/1999, the Executive Committee of the International Judo Federation decided unanimously to cancel the results obtained by Bouras in the 1997 World Championships and rescinded his silver medal.
