Calbrix Jean is a French writer, translator and publisher. He is the author of numerous books, including novels, short stories, essays and plays. He has also translated works by authors such as Samuel Beckett, Harold Pinter and Tom Stoppard into French.
Jean was born in Rouen, France, and studied at the Lycée Corneille and the University of Rouen. He began his writing career in the early 1960s, and his first novel, "Le Passager de la nuit", was published in 1967. He has since published over 20 novels, as well as several collections of short stories, essays and plays.
Jean's work has been translated into over 20 languages, and he has received numerous awards for his writing, including the Prix Goncourt in 1980 for his novel "La Vie devant soi". He is a member of the Académie française, the prestigious French literary academy.
