American basketball point guard who played in the NBA for the Boston Celtics (1950-1963) and Cincinnati Royals (1969–1970). He won six NBA Championships with the Celtics. Cousy introduced a new blend of ball-handling and passing skills to the NBA that earned him the nickname "The Houdini of the Hardwood". Also known as "Cooz", he was regularly introduced at Boston Garden as "Mr. Basketball". He was elected NBA MVP in 1957 and played in the NBA All-Star Game MVP 1954 and 57. From 1969-1973, he was head coach of the Royals/Kings. Elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1970, he became its president in 1989. In addition to his active playing career, Cousy was a commentator for broadcasts of Boston Celtics games since 1974. He was the first president of National Basketball Players Association. Cousy Bob was born on August 9, 1928, in New York City. He is a former professional basketball player who played for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
