Italian geologist and scientist who was a member of the Committee who, from 1960 to 1970, resumed and completed the Geological Map of Italy at scale 1: 100,000. In addition to geologist activity, he conducted research in the Western Alps, in the Southern Rhythmic Alps and in Trentino-Alto Adige, and also devoted himself to zoology, research on rodents and whiskers, and paleontology of vertebrates. As a director of the Institute of Geology at the University of Padua, he enriched the local Museum of Geology and Paleontology with fossil plants and fossils from Bolca and Sicily, including elephants, hippos and a giant spit.
