Norwegian professor of psychiatry, head physician, and director at Gaustad psychiatric hospital 1938-1972. On 12 November 1945 during the legal purge in Norway after World War II he was appointed, together with psychiatrist Gabriel Langfeldt, to conduct the psychiatric examination of Knut Hamsun who had been charged with treason for his support of the Nazis during the war. The examination concluded that Hamsun had "permanently impaired mental faculties," on which the charges of treason were dropped. Ødegård introduced lobotomy as a treatment method at Gaustad in 1941, the first hospital in Norway to do so. He continued this practice long after other and better treatment methods had become available. Lobotomy as a treatment method in Norway was based on Ødegårds research. Ødegård died on 23 February 1986 in Oslo, Norway, aged 84. Link to Wikipedia biography Read less
In Vedic astrology, the Lagna (Ascendant) represents the starting point of an individual's life, denoting their physical body, self-expression, and overall approach to life. When the Lagna is in the Leo sign, it indicates a personality that is confident, charismatic, and often seeks recognition and leadership. Leo, ruled by the Sun, imparts qualities of creativity, ambition, and a strong desire for self-expression. Individuals with a Leo Ascendant tend to be generous, warm-hearted, and have a natural inclination towards taking center stage. The presence of the Lagna in the Uttar Phalguni nakshatra further refines these characteristics. Uttar Phalguni, ruled by the Sun, is associated with qualities of generosity, service, and a sense of duty. It bestows a strong sense of responsibility, a desire for harmony in relationships, and a tendency to seek long-term commitments. Individuals with this nakshatra often possess a balanced approach to life, valuing both personal achievement and the welfare of others. When the Lagna lord, the Sun, is placed in the 8th house in Pisces and in Revati nakshatra, it adds a layer of complexity to the personality. The 8th house is associated with transformation, mysteries, and the occult. It can indicate a life filled with significant changes and challenges that lead to personal growth. The Sun in Pisces suggests a more introspective and spiritual approach to life, often indicating an individual who is compassionate, empathetic, and intuitive. Revati nakshatra, governed by Mercury, is known for its nurturing qualities, creativity, and love for travel and exploration. When the Sun is in this nakshatra, it may enhance the individual's ability to adapt and find creative solutions to challenges. This combination suggests a person who is not only driven by personal growth but also guided by a deeper understanding of life's mysteries. They may possess a unique blend of leadership qualities and spiritual insight, often using their experiences to help and inspire others.
