American television sitcom created by James L. Brooks and Allan Burns that aired on CBS from 1970 to 1977. The program was a television breakthrough, with the first never-married, independent career woman as the central character. It is one of the most acclaimed television programs in US television history. It received high praise from critics, including Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series three years in a row (1975–77), and continued to be honored long after the final episode aired. Plot summary: Mary Richards (Moore) is a single woman who, at age 30, moves to Minneapolis after being jilted by her boyfriend of two years. She applies for a secretarial job at TV station WJM, but that is already taken. She is instead offered the position of associate producer of the stations "Six OClock News". She befriends her tough but lovable boss Lou Grant (Ed Asner), newswriter Murray Slaughter (Gavin MacLeod), and buffoonish anchorman Ted Baxter (Ted Knight). Mary later becomes producer of the show. Mary rents a third floor studio apartment in a Victorian house from acquaintance and downstairs landlady, Phyllis Lindstrom (Cloris Leachman), and she and upstairs neighbor Rhoda Morgenstern (Valerie Harper) become best friends. Characters introduced later in the series are acerbic, man-hungry TV hostess Sue Ann Nivens (Betty White), and sweet-natured Georgette Franklin (Georgia Engel), as Ted Baxters girlfriend (and later, wife). In the third season, issues such as equal pay for women, pre-marital sex, and homosexuality are woven into the shows comedic plots. In the fourth season, such subjects as marital infidelity and divorce are explored with Phyllis and Lou, respectively. In the fifth season, Mary refuses to reveal a news source and is jailed for contempt of court. While in jail, she befriends a prostitute who seeks Marys help in a subsequent episode. In the final seasons, the show explores humor in death in the episode "Chuckles Bites the Dust" and juvenile delinquency; Ted deals with intimate marital problems, infertility, and adoption, and suffers a heart attack; and Mary overcomes an addiction to sleeping pills. Mary dates several men on and off over the years, two seriously, but remains single throughout the series. Link to Wikipedia biography Read less
In Vedic astrology, the natal chart is a map of the sky at the moment of one's birth, and it provides insights into a person's personality, life path, and potential challenges. When the Ascendant, or Lagna, falls in Taurus and resides in the Krittika Nakshatra, it imbues the individual with certain distinct characteristics. Taurus is an earth sign ruled by Venus, symbolizing stability, sensuality, and practicality. Krittika Nakshatra, represented by a cluster of stars known as the Pleiades, is ruled by the Sun and is associated with determination, willpower, and a fiery nature. Individuals with Taurus Lagna in Krittika are likely to be strong-willed, ambitious, and possess a keen sense of purpose. They may have a penchant for beauty and luxury, given Taurus's association with Venus. Krittika's influence can make them sharp-minded and skilled in cutting through unnecessary details to focus on what truly matters. However, this Nakshatra can also lend a tendency toward impatience and a fiery temperament. In this chart, the Lagna lord, Venus, is positioned in the 6th house in Libra and falls under Swati Nakshatra. The 6th house typically signifies challenges, health, service, and daily work. Libra, also ruled by Venus, emphasizes harmony, balance, and relationships. Swati Nakshatra, governed by Rahu, is associated with independence, adaptability, and a desire for freedom. Venus in the 6th house in Libra suggests that the individual might face challenges or conflicts in areas related to work, health, or service to others, but they have the potential to resolve these through diplomacy and charm. The influence of Swati Nakshatra can provide flexibility and a strong desire for independence, allowing the person to navigate challenges with adaptability and grace. Overall, this astrological setup suggests a person who is determined and practical, with a strong sense of purpose. They may face challenges in their daily lives but possess the charm and adaptability to overcome obstacles, maintaining harmony in their personal and professional relationships.
