Holsboer Willem was born on August 3, 1905, in Stuttgart, Germany. He was a German psychiatrist and neurologist who made significant contributions to the field of psychiatry. He is best known for his work on the relationship between hormones and mental illness.
Holsboer studied medicine at the University of Munich and the University of Vienna. He received his medical degree from the University of Munich in 1929. After completing his medical degree, Holsboer worked as a psychiatrist at the University Hospital of Munich. In 1933, he was appointed director of the psychiatric clinic at the University of Erlangen.
Holsboer's research focused on the relationship between hormones and mental illness. He was one of the first scientists to demonstrate that hormones can have a significant impact on mood and behavior. He also developed new treatments for mental illness based on his research on hormones.
Holsboer was a prolific writer and published over 200 scientific papers. He also wrote several books, including Hormones and Mental Illness and The Psychobiology of Depression.
Holsboer died on January 15, 1995, in Munich, Germany. He was 89 years old.
