Biography
Joy Brugh was born on January 27, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is a public figure who has worked in the fields of education, government, and the arts.
Brugh began her career as a teacher in the Salt Lake City School District. She later served as a member of the Utah State Board of Education and the Utah State Legislature. In 1985, she was appointed by President Ronald Reagan as the United States Ambassador to Nepal.
After her appointment as ambassador, Brugh worked to strengthen relations between the United States and Nepal. She also worked to promote democracy and human rights in Nepal.
Brugh returned to Utah in 1989. She has since continued to be active in public life. She is a member of the Utah Arts Council and the Utah Humanities Council. She is also a board member of the Salt Lake City Symphony Orchestra and the Utah Opera.
Brugh is married to John Brugh. They have two children and four grandchildren.
