Louie Marcelyn was born on September 10, 1953 in San Francisco, California. He is a former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 11 seasons.
Marcelyn played college basketball at the University of California, Berkeley. He was a two-time All-American and led the Golden Bears to the NCAA Tournament in 1973 and 1975.
Marcelyn was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in the first round of the 1975 NBA Draft. He played for the Sonics, the New York Knicks, and the Los Angeles Clippers during his NBA career.
Marcelyn averaged 10.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in his NBA career. He was a two-time NBA All-Star and was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 1982.
Marcelyn retired from the NBA in 1986. He later worked as an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings.
