American actor, writer, voice-man, mostly comedy. He wrote and performed with Mort Sahl, Gomer Pyle and Don Rickles and appeared in Mel Brooks "To Be or Not To Be." Reilly served in the U.S. Army 12/58 to 4/61, when he went into broadcast as a disk jockey. He first went to Hollywood when invited by Tim Conway. During the 80s, he played Mr. Carlin on "The Bob Newhart Show," a role that became a recurring steady in half of the 142 shows of the series. He appeared in the sit-com "Roxie" that made a debut 4/15/1987. During the 90s he is still seen often as a popular guest on a variety of TV shows. His role in some half dozen films, from "The Long Goodbye" to "Boogie Nights." From March 1997 through the year, Riley has appeared in 13 "Tonight Show" sketches for Jay Leno, and has appeared in the guise of cult leader Marshall Applewhite six times. Among his many hilarious spoofs, he has been Mother Theresa, a Rolling Stones roadie and a patient in "ER." Since 1989, he has been the voice of computer genius P.C. Riley Jack is an American actor, comedian, and writer. He is best known for his roles as Jack Tripper in the sitcom Three's Company and Vic Tayback in the police drama Hill Street Blues.
Jack began his career in the early 1960s, appearing in small roles in films such as The Graduate (1967) and Cactus Flower (1969). He also had a recurring role on the sitcom The Odd Couple from 1970 to 1974.
In 1976, Jack landed the role of Jack Tripper in Three's Company, a sitcom about three single people sharing an apartment in Santa Monica, California. The show was a huge success, running for eight seasons and becoming one of the most popular sitcoms of all time.
After Three's Company ended in 1984, Jack continued to act in films and television shows. He had a recurring role on the sitcom Family Ties from 1985 to 1986 and starred in the short-lived sitcom Top of the Heap from 1991 to 1992. He also had roles in the films The Flamingo Kid (1984), The Trouble with Normal (1989), and The Man with Two Brains (1983).
In 1992, Jack joined the cast of the police drama Hill Street Blues as Vic Tayback, a corrupt but lovable police detective. The show was a critical and commercial success, running for seven seasons and winning numerous awards. Jack's performance as Tayback earned him two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
After Hill Street Blues ended in 1987, Jack continued to act in films and television. He had a recurring role on the sitcom Wings from 1990 to 1995 and guest-starred on numerous other shows. He also had roles in the films Betsy's Wedding (1990), The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996), and Man on the Moon (1999).
In 2001, Jack retired from acting. He currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
