American millionaire oil and gas executive from a noted family, he was married to actress and dancer Vera-Ellen from 1954 to 1966, when they began their divorce. He had charged the actress with cruelty. Their divorce was finalised on 20 August 1968. While married to Victor Rothschild, Vera-Ellen gave birth to a daughter, Victoria Ellen, who died in 1963 at three months of age from SIDS. Following the death of her only child, she withdrew from public life. He later remarried and had a daughter and a son. A member of the wealthy Ashkenazi Jewish family, the Rothschilds, Victor was the son of 64-year-old English-born Alexander Z. Rothschild and his 38-year-old Pennsylvania-born wife Jennie E. Bennett. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II as a paratrooper and owned and operated numerous gay stations in Los Angeles. He died on 14 December 2008 at age 85 in Denver, Colorado.
