French military officer in World War II, a member of the resistance who served in the French Foreign Legion in the French Parachute Brigades; today known as the 11th Parachute Brigade. Commandant by interim of the 1st Foreign Parachute Regiment (disbanded in 1961), he led his regiment towards the Generals Putsch in April 1961. He died on 26 August 2013. Link to Wikipedia biography

Hliede began his career as a journalist in 1945. He worked for several newspapers and magazines, including Le Monde, Le Figaro, and L'Express. He also wrote several books, including "The New France" (1958) and "The French Revolution" (1968).
Hliede was a member of the Académie française from 1975 until his death in 1997. He was also a member of the Légion d'honneur.
