- Eric Tabarly was a French sailor. He was one of the most successful sailors of all time, winning numerous races, including the OSTAR, the Whitbread Round the World Race, and the Route du Rhum.
- Tabarly was born in Nantes, France, in 1931. He began sailing at a young age, and quickly showed a talent for the sport.
- In 1964, Tabarly won the OSTAR, a single-handed transatlantic race. This was the first of many victories for Tabarly, who went on to win the Whitbread Round the World Race in 1973 and the Route du Rhum in 1978.
