Italian economist, killed in an attack by the Red Brigades. At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) he studied with some of the most important economists, including Robert Solow and Franco Modigliani. The latter, in particular, started a fruitful scientific collaboration that led them to write several essays and articles together. In the United States, he met his life partner and future wife, Carole Beebe Tarantelli. He taught courses in industrial relations at MIT, at the Department of Economics at the University of California and at the European University College in Florence. In 1981 he founded the Institute of Economics and Labor Studies, associated with CISL, becoming President and was a close associate of then Secretary General of CISL, Pierre Carniti. From 1981 to 1983 he was head of the editorial team of the Political Laboratory magazine. On 27 March 1985, at the end of a lecture at the faculty of Economics and Commerce at La Sapienza University in Rome, two brigadists shot at him with a machine gun. It turned out that the Red Brigades had been tracking Tarantellis activities and movements for a year. Link to Wikipedia biography (Italian) Read less
