Fieri was born in Columbus, Ohio, on January 22, 1968. He grew up in Ferndale, California, and attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he studied hotel management.
Fieri began his career in the restaurant business as a manager at a St. Louis barbecue restaurant. In 1996, he opened his first restaurant, Johnny Garlic's, in Santa Rosa, California. He has since opened several other restaurants, including Guy's American Kitchen & Bar and Guy's Burger Joint.
