Biography
Margolis Richard was born on June 10, 1943, in Lorain, Ohio. He is an American businessman and politician. He served as the 62nd Lieutenant Governor of Ohio from 1991 to 1995. He is a member of the Republican Party.
Richard graduated from Lorain High School in 1961. He then attended Ohio Wesleyan University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics in 1965. After graduating from college, Richard served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968.
After leaving the Army, Richard worked in the insurance industry. He also served on the Lorain City Council from 1970 to 1977. In 1978, Richard was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives. He served in the House until 1986, when he was elected to the Ohio Senate. Richard served in the Senate until 1990, when he was elected Lieutenant Governor.
As Lieutenant Governor, Richard served as the President of the Ohio Senate. He also served as the Chairman of the Ohio Controlling Board. Richard left office in 1995.
After leaving office, Richard continued to work in the insurance industry. He also served on the board of directors of several companies. In 2007, Richard was appointed to the Ohio Casino Control Commission. He served on the commission until 2011.
Richard is married to the former Carol Ann Bauman. They have three children.
