Ohl Don is an American politician who served as the 36th mayor of Dallas, Texas from 1973 to 1977. He was born on April 18, 1936 in Murphysboro, Illinois. Don graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1958 and from the SMU Dedman School of Law in 1961. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1958 to 1964.
Don was elected to the Dallas City Council in 1969. He served as mayor pro tempore from 1971 to 1973. In 1973, he was elected mayor of Dallas. As mayor, Don oversaw the construction of the Dallas Convention Center and the expansion of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. He also worked to improve race relations in the city.
After leaving office in 1977, Don continued to be active in politics. He served as a member of the Dallas County Commissioners Court from 1978 to 1982. He also served as a member of the Texas State Board of Insurance from 1983 to 1987.
Don is married to Martha Don. They have two children.
