Scottish molecular biologist and biophysicist and pioneer in the field of electron microscopy of biological molecules. He is distinguished for his contributions to protein crystallography — a technique that uses X-rays to determine the structure of molecules. Richard was the first to solve the structure of a protein found in the membrane of a cell. In 2016 he was awarded the Copley Medal of the Royal Society. He shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2017 with Jacques Dubochet and Joachim Frank. Link to Wikipedia biography Read less
