Her grandfather was Benito Mussolini, the dictator of Italy in WW II. Her parents separated when she was only three, her mom marrying an Iranian cardiologist. She has one sister. Her slanted green eyes and sensuous mouth are reminiscent of her Aunt Sophia.. She first played in a film at the age of nine and by 1983, was the co-host of a weekly Italian TV variety show. She has worked steadily in film and TV ever since. In Hollywood, she joined the cast of "Dallas" in 1988. Her first starring role was in the 1989 film "The Road To Ein Harod," playing a Jewish soldier. She later lost the role when Jews objected to her being cast in a Jewish role. On 10/29/1989 she married 28-year old Mauo Floriani, a captain in the Italian customs police, at Predappio, Italy. Two years later she turned to politics, running for office.
