Nix Doyle is an American former football player and coach. He was born on May 30, 1933, in Texarkana, Texas.
**Playing Career**
Doyle played college football at Mississippi State University from 1951 to 1954. He was a three-time All-SEC selection and was named to the All-American team in 1954.
After college, Doyle was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the first round of the 1955 NFL Draft. He played for the Redskins for five seasons, making the Pro Bowl in 1958.
**Coaching Career**
After retiring from the NFL, Doyle began his coaching career as an assistant at Mississippi State in 1960. He became the head coach of the Bulldogs in 1963 and held the position for seven seasons. Under Doyle's leadership, Mississippi State won two SEC championships and played in four bowl games.
Doyle left Mississippi State in 1970 to become the head coach of the New Orleans Saints. He coached the Saints for four seasons, leading them to their first playoff appearance in 1971.
Doyle returned to Mississippi State in 1975 and served as the head coach for one more season. He retired from coaching after the 1976 season.
