American writer and graphic artist best known as the creator of the long-running independent comic book series Poison Elves. Hayes began self-publishing I, Lusiphur under the Mulehide Graphics imprint in 1991. He changed the series title to Poison Elves with #8, and continued through #20. During this period, he was a prominent example of creators distributing their black and white comics to the direct market. In 1995 he signed a "lifetime contract" assigning the rights to the series to Sirius Entertainment, where he produced another 79 issues and a color special, the last of which was published in September 2004. His work has been collected in twelve Poison Elves paperbacks. He engaged in an ongoing mock "feud" with fellow comics creator Brian Bendis in the letters pages of their books. Hayes suffered from health problems which hampered his ability to create comics. He was overweight, had suffered cardiac damage from sleep apnea, and had been hospitalized more than once. After undergoing treatment in the hospital and losing weight, he planned to resume creating new issues of Poison Elves, but died on 21 March 2007 at age 36 of a heart attack while suffering from pneumonia. In Vedic astrology, the natal chart holds significant insights into an individual's personality, life path, and potential challenges. When the Lagna (ascendant) is in Leo, it suggests a personality that is confident, ambitious, and charismatic. Leo ascendants often possess strong leadership qualities and a desire to shine in whatever they do. They are typically self-assured and have a natural ability to draw attention, thanks to the influence of their ruling planet, the Sun. When the Lagna is in the Poorva Phalguni nakshatra, it adds layers of creativity, charm, and sociability to the Leo ascendant. Poorva Phalguni, ruled by Venus, enhances the individual's love for art, beauty, and relationships. People with this placement may have a strong desire for pleasure and comfort, and they might excel in fields related to entertainment, hospitality, or any area where they can express their creativity and connect with others. The placement of the Lagna lord, the Sun, in the 12th house in Cancer brings another dimension to the chart. The 12th house is associated with spirituality, isolation, and the subconscious mind. When the Sun is placed here, especially in the Cancer sign, it indicates a need for introspection and emotional understanding. These individuals may have a strong inner world and a tendency to seek solitude for self-reflection. Cancer's influence could make them sensitive and nurturing, but it might also bring challenges related to emotional vulnerability and over-dependence on others for emotional support. The Sun in Pusya nakshatra, ruled by Saturn, adds discipline and a sense of duty to the native's personality. Pusya is considered a nurturing and auspicious nakshatra, often bestowing wisdom and a caring nature. However, the combination of the Sun in the 12th house may also lead to struggles with expressing the true self and potential issues with self-esteem. There might be a strong inclination towards spirituality or charitable activities as a way to find fulfillment. Overall, this astrological configuration suggests a dynamic personality with a blend of leadership, creativity, and introspection. While there may be challenges related to emotional security and self-expression, these individuals have the potential to achieve great personal growth through spiritual pursuits and artistic expression.

In Vedic astrology, when the natal Sun, which is the 1st lord for a Leo ascendant, is placed in the 12th house in Cancer sign, it brings about a complex and nuanced influence on the native's life. The 12th house is traditionally associated with themes such as expenses, losses, foreign lands, isolation, and spiritual pursuits. The Cancer sign, ruled by the Moon, adds a layer of emotional depth and sensitivity to this placement. Having the Sun in Cancer in the 12th house can indicate a person who is introspective and may feel a strong pull toward exploring their inner world. They may possess a deep emotional intelligence and have a nurturing disposition, often seeking solace in helping others or engaging in charitable activities. However, this position can also lead to feelings of being misunderstood or unrecognized, as the Sun's natural desire for expression and recognition is subdued in the 12th house. The presence of Mars in conjunction with the Sun adds a dynamic and assertive energy to the mix. Mars, being a fiery planet, can increase the native’s drive and determination, potentially manifesting as a strong desire to pursue goals related to foreign lands or spiritual enlightenment. However, it can also lead to internal conflicts or restlessness, as the aggressive nature of Mars may clash with the nurturing energy of Cancer. Mercury's conjunction with the Sun can enhance the native's intellectual abilities and communication skills. It indicates a sharp mind and the ability to think creatively or communicate effectively in areas related to 12th house matters, such as spirituality, psychology, or foreign relations. However, Mercury’s presence here can also lead to overthinking or anxiety, especially when dealing with emotional matters. Pusya Nakshatra, known for its nourishing and auspicious qualities, provides a stabilizing influence. It can bring a sense of purpose and direction, encouraging the native to channel their energies into constructive and spiritually rewarding pursuits. Overall, this combination suggests a life path that involves balancing introspective tendencies with active engagement in the outer world, potentially leading to personal growth and spiritual fulfillment.

For a Leo ascendant, the Moon serves as the lord of the 12th house, which signifies aspects like expenses, losses, foreign travels, spirituality, isolation, and subconscious tendencies. When the Moon is positioned in the 7th house, it influences partnerships, marriage, public relations, and open enemies. The placement in Aquarius, a sign ruled by Saturn, adds a layer of innovation, humanitarianism, and detachment to the Moon's influence. Being in Dhanishta Nakshatra, which is ruled by Mars, the Moon's characteristics are colored by themes of wealth, music, rhythm, and leadership. Dhanishta is known for its ability to bring material success and harmonious relationships, but it also comes with a need for discipline and hard work, reflecting Mars' energetic and assertive nature. The conjunction with Rahu, the North Node of the Moon, intensifies and complicates this placement. Rahu is known for its insatiable desires and tendency to amplify the traits of its conjunct planet. In this context, Rahu's presence can lead to unconventional or foreign partnerships, possibly bringing a sense of restlessness in relationships. It may also indicate a karmic element in partnerships, where individuals are drawn to unusual or non-traditional relationships. For a Leo ascendant, this configuration can manifest as a strong urge for unique, possibly foreign or cross-cultural partnerships. It might lead to relationships that are out of the norm, or that involve significant learning and growth through partners. The Moon's 12th house rulership may also suggest a need for emotional or psychological exploration through partnerships, perhaps even a tendency toward escapism if not handled mindfully. Overall, this placement suggests a dynamic yet complex interplay between personal relationships and the deeper, often hidden aspects of the psyche. It encourages balancing personal needs with relationship dynamics and being mindful of Rahu's tendency to create illusions or magnify desires.

In Vedic astrology, the placement of Mercury as the ruler of the 11th (house of gains, friendships, and aspirations) and 2nd house (house of wealth, family, and speech) in the 12th house (house of losses, foreign lands, and spirituality) for a Leo ascendant introduces a complex interplay of energies. This configuration is further nuanced by its placement in Cancer in the Aslesha Nakshatra, and its conjunction with the Sun and Mars. Mercury in the 12th house often suggests a mind inclined towards introspection, spirituality, and possibly foreign connections. As the 11th lord, Mercury in this position can indicate that gains and aspirations might manifest in foreign lands or through esoteric pursuits. However, being the 2nd lord in the 12th house can signify challenges related to family wealth or speech, potentially indicating expenses or losses related to family matters or communication. The sign of Cancer adds an emotional and intuitive layer to Mercury’s expression. Cancer’s influence brings a nurturing and protective quality, which might make the native sensitive and emotional in their thinking and communication. The Aslesha Nakshatra, known for its mystical and intense qualities, can imbue Mercury with a shrewd, strategic, and sometimes secretive mindset. This can be beneficial for careers involving research, psychology, or any field requiring deep analysis and understanding of human nature. The conjunction of Mercury with the Sun (the ascendant lord) and Mars adds more complexity. The Sun, representing the self and ego, can enhance Mercury’s intellectual abilities but may also lead to ego-driven communication or pride in one's intellect. Mars, a fiery planet of action and aggression, can add dynamism and enthusiasm but may also result in impulsive decisions or arguments if not well-managed. Overall, this placement suggests an individual who might achieve gains through foreign or secluded environments, with a strong inclination towards introspection and deep thinking. There may be challenges in managing resources and communication, but with the right focus, these energies can be harnessed for personal growth and understanding of deeper truths.

In Vedic astrology, the placement of Venus as the lord of the 10th and 3rd houses in the 1st house for a Leo ascendant can have significant implications. When Venus is positioned in the sign of Leo, especially in the Poorva Phalguni Nakshatra, it highlights themes of creativity, charisma, and a desire for recognition. As the 10th house lord, Venus in the 1st house suggests that career and public life are of great importance to the individual. Such a placement indicates a person who is ambitious and seeks to make a mark in the world. They are likely to be drawn to professions that allow them to express their creativity and charm, such as in the arts, entertainment, or any field that demands public interaction. This positioning also enhances the person's leadership qualities, making them well-suited for roles that require taking initiative. As the 3rd house lord, Venus in the 1st house enhances communication skills and suggests a strong connection with siblings or close relatives. The individual may possess persuasive abilities and a knack for networking, which can aid in both personal and professional pursuits. The presence of Ketu conjunct Venus adds a layer of complexity. Ketu is a planet associated with spirituality, detachment, and past life karma. Its conjunction with Venus can lead to a sense of dissatisfaction or a quest for deeper meaning in relationships and material pursuits. The individual might experience periods of introspection, where they question the value of worldly achievements and seek spiritual growth. The Poorva Phalguni Nakshatra, ruled by Venus, further amplifies the themes of creativity, luxury, and enjoyment. In Vedic astrology, the placement of Ketu as the 4th lord in the 1st house for a Leo ascendant is a complex and intriguing configuration. Ketu, the South Node of the Moon, is a shadow planet known for its spiritual and detaching qualities. Positioned in the 1st house, it brings a focus on self-identity and personal growth, often through unconventional or spiritual means. For a Leo ascendant, the 4th house typically relates to home, mother, inner peace, and emotional foundations. When Ketu, a planet associated with detachment and past life karma, governs this house and is placed in the 1st house, it can indicate a person who may feel disconnected from traditional family ties or domestic life. This individual might seek identity and purpose beyond conventional norms and could be drawn toward spiritual or metaphysical pursuits. The sign of Leo, ruled by the Sun, adds a layer of complexity. Leo's energy is vibrant, leadership-oriented, and expressive. Ketu in Leo can create a dichotomy, as the natural inclination of Leo to shine and seek recognition may contrast with Ketu's tendency to withdraw and seek the spiritual or mystical. The presence of Magha Nakshatra intensifies this setup. Magha, ruled by Ketu and associated with regal and ancestral energies, emphasizes themes of legacy, authority, and respect for tradition. Individuals with Ketu in Magha might feel a strong connection to their lineage or heritage, but simultaneously experience a need to redefine themselves outside of it. The conjunction with Venus brings in themes of love, beauty, and relationships. Venus in Leo in the 1st house can bestow charm, artistic talent, and a love for luxury. However, Ketu's influence might lead to complexities in relationships, where there's an oscillation between desire for connection and a need for independence. Overall, this astrological combination suggests a life path focused on balancing personal expression with spiritual evolution, potentially leading to significant personal transformation.

In Vedic astrology, the placement of Mars as the 9th and 4th lord in the 12th house in Cancer, specifically in Pusya Nakshatra, for a Leo ascendant, creates a complex and nuanced astrological scenario. Let's break it down: 1. **Mars as the 9th and 4th Lord**: Mars governs both the 9th house, which relates to fortune, higher education, long-distance travel, and spirituality, and the 4th house, which pertains to home, mother, comforts, and inner peace. As a result, Mars in this position has a significant influence on these areas of life. 2. **12th House Placement**: The 12th house is often associated with losses, expenses, foreign lands, isolation, and the subconscious mind. When Mars is placed here, it can indicate a strong drive (Mars) towards spiritual pursuits, foreign connections, or working behind the scenes. There may also be expenses related to home or property due to its rulership of the 4th house. 3. **Cancer Sign and Pusya Nakshatra**: Mars in Cancer is in its debilitation sign, which can weaken its natural assertive and aggressive qualities. In Pusya Nakshatra, which is ruled by Saturn, Mars's energy might be more disciplined and oriented towards nurturing or protective actions. There could be a conflict between Mars’s fiery nature and Cancer’s emotional depth, leading to internal struggles or passive-aggressive tendencies. 4. **Conjunction with Sun and Mercury**: The Sun, the ruler of the ascendant, in conjunction with Mars, can amplify Mars's energy, adding vitality and assertiveness. This combination can enhance leadership qualities but may also lead to ego conflicts. Mercury's presence can introduce intellectual capabilities and communication skills, potentially moderating Mars’s aggressive tendencies and facilitating better expression of ideas. For Leo ascendants, this configuration might manifest as a strong inclination towards spiritual growth or foreign travel, possibly related to educational or philosophical pursuits. However, careful management of finances and emotional energy is advised to avoid unnecessary conflicts or expenditures. Balancing the fiery nature of Mars and Sun with the emotional depth of Cancer can lead to personal growth and fulfillment.
